Oostende receives the prestigious "Automobile Tourism Award" from the FBAA

Oostende emphasizes its role as a top destination for group tourism. During the Spring Reception of the bus federation FBAA, the city by the sea was awarded the 2025 Automobile Tourism Award.

The city of Oostende received a prestigious recognition in March: the "Automobile Tourism Award 2025," presented by the Belgian Federation of Bus and Coach Operators (FBAA). During their annual Spring Reception, the federation honored Oostende for its outstanding policy on group tourism.

Top Destination for Group Travel

According to the FBAA, Oostende stands out for its welcoming attitude, high-quality facilities, and rich cultural offerings. With these strengths, the city by the sea has become an absolute top destination for group travel.

"With its excellent facilities, rich cultural offerings, and welcoming attitude, the city of Oostende is a model for other cities. The coach travel sector applauds this policy," says Pieter Van Bastelaere, CEO of FBAA.

Four Unique Advantages for Groups

In recent years, the city has actively invested in accessible and high-quality facilities for groups, including:

  • 12 free coach parking spaces near the city center, making it easy for visitors to explore the city.
  • Professional city guides offering fascinating walking tours through the historic heart of Oostende.
  • A rich tourist offer with highlights such as the Royal Galleries, Fort Napoleon, the James Ensor House, the Mercator, and the Atlantic Wall Raversyde.
  • Smooth bus tours for people with limited mobility (PRMs), ensuring that everyone can enjoy all the beauty Oostende has to offer.

Conscious Choice for Group Tourism

Tourism Alderman Niko Geldhof proudly responds to the award:

"This award is a wonderful recognition of the conscious choices we make as a city. Oostende is a vibrant destination, 12 months a year. We combine beloved landmarks such as the James Ensor House, the Mercator, and The Crystal Ship with a broad cultural offer and the unique charm of the sea and beach. Groups discover a unique mix of culture, relaxation, city, and sea throughout the year. We are delighted that this is so highly valued."

With this award, Oostende emphasizes its ambition to warmly welcome groups and set an example within Belgian tourism.
